Let’s start out this little experiment with a game that I feel knows what it is and just revels in it.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is a game that just feels happy. For once you have a hero character that doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder or some dark past. He’s just a chill guy, and that was actually a little jarring for me. There’s a scene at the start where someone loses their money in a river, and your character doesn’t hesitate to jump in and collect it. The funny thing for me is that is what I would do when playing myself. But to have a character kind of already start from that point is weird. Games try so hard to be serious, and this game zigs when everyone else would zag.
I’m enjoying my time with it so far, and the turn based combat is engaging and I always enjoy it more when I can avoid fight if I’m just trying to go from Point A to B.
This is a game I’ll post about more for sure. I’m playing on the Playstation Portal, and the only real issue I have is the long time between saves at the beginning of the game. Kind of makes it so I have to leave the game open and not jump to something else. But I know once I’m in meat of the game, that will be less of an issue.
